Last Thursday, together with guests from the diplomatic community in Tallinn, we had the third of our charity visits this spring, this time to the Nõmmme Mother and Child Shelter/ Nõmme Ema ja Lapse Turvakodu. This shelter provides a safe environment for women, especially mothers with children, who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence or exceptional circumstances and need temporary shelter. The multi-faceted and complex issue of domestic violence leaves no one untouched and we are grateful that there are places like this to turn to when needed. Members who visited last year commented on how friendly, welcoming and fresh the accommodation looked after a recent refurbishment. IWCT has been supporting Nõmme Mother and Child Shelter for 10 years with a portion of the funds raised at the International Christmas Bazaar. Many thanks to all donors!
